At more than a dozen warehouse locations, an online grocery service has equipped the fleet management of its electric delivery fleet with an intelligent charging solution. More than 1,000 electric delivery trucks are integrated in a strategic energy and process management system. Telematic data, including vehicle charging status and route information, is used to optimize grid usage, minimizing investment costs and maximizing the benefits to the infrastructure. This allows around 90 electric delivery trucks and 40 charging stations to be managed at one depot, without the need to extend the grid connections. This is achieved, among other things, by shifting charging times based on grid capacity and energy demand, which enables a minimum energy demand of just 1.5 kW per vehicle.
